MBTA teams up with Uber and Lyft to increase transportation options for passengers with disabilities

A paratransit pilot program in Massachusetts will help pay for an on-demand taxi service for customers of MBTA's THE RIDE. Customers who have disabilities will be able to request rides directly from their smartphones.

For rides totaling less than $15, customers will only pay $2 of their fare, with MBTA paying the remaining $13. Passengers are responsible for paying the difference when rides cost more than $15.

With THE RIDE's usual services priced at $31 for the MBTA and $3.15 for customers, this program will save money for both parties while greatly increasing convenience for Massachusetts residents who have disabilities. Read more about the program in The Daily Free Press.
